Bien qu’en tonalité de si bémol majeur, le Concert pour piano n°2 de Brahms porte l’empreinte des teintes automnales chères au compositeur allemand, dans l’Andante avec violoncelle obligé, comme dans la vitalité du finale ou du Scherzo qui porte à quatre le nombre de mouvements d’une œuvre à l’ampleur comparable à celle d’une symphonie. Figure montante de la nouvelle génération depuis l’édition 2021 du Concours Reine Elisabeth, Jonathan Fournel se mesurera à un cheval de bataille de tous les plus grands solistes. Sous la baguette de Lio Kuokman, l’Orchestre national d’île-de-France prolongera cette inspiration nostalgique avec deux évocations d’une danse légendaire : la valse. Si la pièce éponyme de Ravel glisse progressivement d’une volupté un rien surannée vers une ivresse plus proche de la modernité du début des Années Folles, la Suite que Richard Strauss a tirée de son opéra Le Chevalier à la Rose écrit trente ans plus tôt résonne, au cœur de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, comme un refuge sensuel dans le souvenir d’un monde disparu.
