Un homme, Samuel, se plonge dans une quête identitaire douloureuse et tumultueuse en fouillant sa mémoire trouée par une disparition. Car le père qu’il n’a jamais connu, victime de la dictature argentine comme 30000 autres personnes entre 1976 et 1983 – los desaparecidos -, a terriblement manqué à l’enfant comme à sa mère, prisonnière du passé, et s’est réduit à une figure idéalisée, à une absence. C’est lorsqu’il retourne dans l’hôtel de son enfance à la mort de sa mère que Samuel convoque ses souvenirs et son imaginaire, pour donner voix aux secrets enfouis, à l’enfant qu’il a été et au père inconnu. L’auteur Valérie Boronad, dont le premier roman, Les Constellations du hasard, a été salué par le public et la critique, a conçu Los Demonios comme une double partition romanesque et dramatique, et afin de démultiplier les vecteurs narratifs, de donner forme aux éclats d’inconscient de Samuel et de faire naître de nouvelles correspondances poétiques, le metteur en scène Philippe Boronad (aussi interprète) utilise les technologies numériques. Dans le cadre du Bicentenaire de la République d’Argentine, la pièce tombe à pic pour enrichir la perception et la compréhension du spectateur face à la dictature militaire.
