C’est l’histoire d’un fils qui écrit l’histoire de son père inconnu, disparu comme 30000 autres personnes en Argentine pendant la dictature entre 1976 et 1983, l’histoire d’un fils devenu écrivain qui convoque et réinvente les voix du passé, au fil d’un parcours onirique peuplé de rêves et de cauchemars, souvent miné par une peur dévorante. La narration est ici le moyen de rester en vie, de lutter contre la mort, transformant l’insupportable prison des souvenirs et de l’absence du père en ferment vivant au présent, si possible. L’acte d’écrire devient acte d’exister, et c’est ce qu’entend montrer la pièce. L’œuvre dramatique fait écho au roman éponyme de Valérie Boronad, et le spectacle donne corps à la vie intérieure des personnages. Pas facile de parvenir à transformer cette narration cathartique en expression théâtrale, et la dramaturgie combine pour cela le jeu des acteurs, une architecture sonore et la vidéo, qui apparaît sur deux grands panneaux qui cernent le personnage du fils, Samuel (Philippe Boronad).
Univers mental intime
Ces panneaux semblables aux pages d’un livre figurent son univers mental intime et secret, où se lisent ses tourments, y compris les tortures que son père a subies. A la mort de sa mère Ana (Moana Ferré), qui a toute sa vie vécu figée dans le passé et le souvenir de son amour pour son mari Luis, Samuel revient dans l’hôtel de son enfance où il est assailli par son passé. Son père parle parfois à travers lui, d’une voix autre et grave, et une figure féminine hiératique et belle représente l’épouse ou la mère. Autre personnage sur la scène : Augusto, qui s’occupe de l’hôtel depuis des années et a connu l’enfant lorsqu’il était petit. Luis Jaime-Cortez l’interprète avec beaucoup de présence et d’émotion. Le dispositif vise à explorer « la mécanique secrète du conscient et de l’inconscient du personnage », sans passer par une trame narrative linéaire ou par l’incarnation. La pièce y parvient en partie grâce à un travail approfondi et à des fulgurances, sans éviter parfois une impression d’artifice trop imposante. Une belle recherche intéressante, au cœur de la vie intérieure des êtres.
