Après la sortie événementielle en 2011 de son album « Sem Nostalgia », premier opus sorti en Europe de ce trublion de la musique brésilienne, on poursuit aujourd’hui la découverte de cet artiste à part avec « The God Who Devastates Also Cures ». Un disque mélancolique et étrange, inspiré par une rupture amoureuse, à l’image du morceau éponyme qui ouvre l’album : « Cette chanson parle du jour où je suis sorti de ma maison et où la relation s’est terminée. Il y avait un orage épouvantable, et quand je suis sorti de ma maison le matin, toute la ville était à l’arrêt… Cette expérience m’a fait comprendre que j’avais besoin d’écrire sur tout ce que je vis, pour surmonter ma situation ». De ce choc émotionnel est né pour Santtana le besoin de revisiter et réinventer toutes ses dimensions musicales (de la guitare-voix bossa au hip-hop en passant par l’électro) dans un patchwork musical débridé et généreux lui ouvrant soudain de nouveaux horizons. « Tu ressens beaucoup de douleur, mais tu te sens également libéré » conclut le musicien de Bahia. Seul, libre, quadragénaire et probablement plus créatif que jamais.
