Du tournage sur bois, même pratiqué en amateur, Alexis Louis-Lucas sait ce que la forme qui apparaît sur le billot doit au rabotage et au polissage. Appliquant ce processus à ses souvenirs, il les convoque et les triture pour faire advenir son enfance. Une enfance singulière passée dans les bois, où il reçoit l’enseignement des arbres et des vieux grincheux du village qui traduisent leur langage. Dans ce spectacle poétique mis en scène par Pierre Vanelli, il est question de nature, de transmission, de l’avenir de la planète, et bien sûr de l’arbre, « repère évident, éternel et populaire », « puissant précepteur parce qu’il est à la lisière entre un état sauvage et la société organisée des hommes », nous dit Alexis Louis-Lucas pour qui l’utopie des arbres signifie « la représentation intuitive d’un équilibre idéal et incertain ».
