« C’est en conservant notre amour enfantin pour les arbres (…) que l’on rend un peu plus probable la possibilité d’un avenir paisible et décent » écrivait George Orwell. Une affirmation qui résonne comme une prophétie en ces temps de crise environnementale où l’homme paraît avoir perdu le lien avec la nature. Alexis Louis-Lucas, dans ce spectacle, le reconstitue. Avec les arbres de son enfance qui pouvaient peupler les forêts mais prenaient aussi parfois forme humaine. La forme de ceux qu’il appelle des « grincheux », vieux chênes sages et protecteurs à la peau couverte de l’écorce des ans, qui aimaient en râlant. Croisant sagesse humaine et enseignements millénaires du bois, au milieu de la sciure et des copeaux, il reconstitue son lien au passé, à ses racines, à la terre, à coup de mots polis et bien taillés.
