Un mythe se compose de l’ensemble de ses variantes, remarquait Claude Lévi-Strauss. Astrid Bayiha s’engage dans une « traversée maritime et polyphonique »de l’histoire de Médée en ses avatars, faisant « escale tantôt au pays d’Euripide, de Sénèque, de Heiner Müller, de Sara Stridsberg, ou encore de Jean-René Lemoine ». Qui est Médée ? Comment aime-t-on quand on « M comme Médée » ? Médée ensanglante la filiation : meurtrière de son frère dépecé, traîtresse dont les pouvoirs ont perdu son père et sa patrie, elle frappe en aval comme elle a frappé en amont, et tue ses enfants pour mieux se venger de Jason l’infidèle, après avoir assassiné sa rivale. Afin de saisir « les voix métissées qui s’élèvent de cette étrange embarcation », Astrid Bayiha a réuni sept artistes de la Martinique, d’Afrique, du Maghreb, du Moyen-Orient, du Brésil et de France pour composer un chœur qui, en plus du texte, prend en charge certains chants, en différentes langues, pour exprimer les émotions des amants maudits qui ont construit, en gerfauts d’épouvante, leur nid dans un charnier criminel.
