Théâtre des Gémeaux / D'après Shakespeare / Mes Anthony Magnier
Adapter Macbeth sans le trahir, en extraire au contraire la substantifique moelle, la proximité avec le public, le goût pour la violence politique, le rire et le fantastique propres au siècle de l’auteur élisabéthain. Tel est le défi que se fixe Anthony Magnier dans cette version écourtée, remaniée, compressée, qu’il veut être « une sorte de gifle shakespearienne » menée « avec la tonicité qu’elle demande ». Ils seront donc cinq actrices et acteurs au plateau sur un plancher circulaire « tour à tour forêt, château, chambre à coucher, salle de réception », pour représenter la descente aux enfers de Macbeth et de sa femme, rongés par l’ivresse du pouvoir qui les propulse dans le meurtre. Une intrigue resserrée, oscillant entre tragique et burlesque, pour la mise en scène inaugurale du directeur de ce tout nouveau théâtre des Gémeaux avignonnais.
