« C’est une suite de neuf tableaux pour Orchestre qui raconte chaque personnage musical de Danzas. J’ai appelé ces moments des « Free wheels », des roues libres. Chaque musicien de l’orchestre a la sienne ! Les quatre autres tableaux créent un lien entre cette musique actuelle neuve (Free Wheels) et des références à des compositeurs qui me sont chers, que j’associe à des personnalités que j’ai eu la chance de rencontrer dans mon parcours de musicien. Il s’agit de quatre mélodies : de Robert Schumann dédiée à la pianiste Catherine Collard, de King Crimson dédiée à Andy Emler, d’Astor Piazzola dédiée à Nana Vasconcellos et de John Coltrane dédiée à Dave Liebman. La première envie est de jouer un concert totalement acoustique, pour être au plus près de la matière sonore des solistes, mais également de suivre sans le prisme d’une sonorisation la mise en espace acoustique, comme une sculpture sonore voulue par l’écriture. Après avoir consacré une création complète aux percussions – Impulse Songs -, j’avais envie de revenir aux cordes, vents, accordéon et piano. J’avoue que les ensembles de chambre tels qu’Igor Stravinsky les a utilisés restent de magnifiques références pour moi. »
