Théâtre de l’Usine / d’August Strindberg / mes Hubert Jappelle
Il y a Julie, jeune aristocrate laissée à elle-même durant la nuit de la Saint-Jean. Il y a Jean, le valet de son père absent, domestique orgueilleux traversé par des idées d’ascension sociale. Il y a Kristin, la cuisinière et fiancée de Jean, qui assiste à l’affrontement et aux jeux de séduction auxquels se livrent les deux premiers personnages. Pour sa nouvelle création, le directeur du Théâtre de L’Usine à Eragny-sur-Oise s’est tourné vers le chef-d’œuvre d’August Strindberg. Lors d’un entretien publié dans nos colonnes à l’occasion de sa mise en scène de L’Atelier, à l’automne 2009, Hubert Jappelle caractérisait le théâtre auquel il aspire comme un art parvenant à faire vivre, « à travers la plus grande vérité possible », « tout ce qui compose les relations humaines, tout ce qui se passe dans les têtes, dans les cœurs, dans les corps… » Ce sont précisément ces impulsions profondes qu’il s’agit de rendre palpables dans Mademoiselle Julie. Des impulsions qui font toute la puissance de ce huis clos tragique.
