Passé de mode, certes, mais surtout au-delà des jeux et enjeux de tendances musicales, Magma fête ses quarante ans d’existence. Le groupe de Christian Vander a vu le jour dans la fièvre de la fin des années 60, au point de rencontre entre les audaces modales coltranniennes, la tellurique puissance percussive d’Elvin Jones et la démesure du rock progressif des années 70. Au-delà des changements de personnel qui ont jalonné l’histoire du groupe, la musique semble n’avoir n’a rien perdu ni de son invention ni de sa pertinence artistique. Avec aujourd’hui autour du leader-batteur-compositeur : Hervé Aknin (chant), Benoit Alziary (vibraphone, clavier), Philippe Bussonnet (basse), Isabelle Feuillebois (chant), James Mac Gaw (guitare), Bruno Ruder (piano, Fender Rhodes) et Stella Vander (chant, percussions).
