Maldoror de Lautréamont, mise en scène de Benjamin Lazar

A l’Athénée, en alternance avec un spectacle consacré à Cyrano de Bergerac, le poète lunaire qui inspira le personnage de Rostand, Benjamin Lazar interprète en voix et en musique les mythiques Chants de Maldoror du Comte de Lautréamont, pseudonyme d’Isidore Ducasse. A la croisée du symbolisme et du surréalisme, ce texte écrit en 1868 par un jeune homme de 22 ans qui mourra deux ans plus tard, est passé totalement inaperçu jusqu’à ce que les surréalistes s’en emparent comme d’un monument littéraire d’une liberté poétique fulgurante. Avec des musiques de Chopin, Debussy, Satie…, Benjamin Lazar, orfèvre du renouveau actuel du théâtre musical, campe le jeune homme qui, dans sa chambre d’hôtel du Faubourg Montmartre, compose sur son piano la musique de son écriture poétique, noire et transgressive.
