Tombé dans la marmite du swing au plus jeune âge, ce trompettiste jouait déjà les classiques du New Orleans quand ses camarades grattaient péniblement leurs premiers accords de rock sur une guitare. Sur scène depuis l’âge de dix ans, Malo Mazurié est un drôle de zigue, qui connait ses Louis Armstrong, Rex Stewart et autres « Sweets » Edison sur le bout des doigts, des pistons et des sourdines, dont il ranime le style avec la fraicheur de sa jeunesse. Après avoir collaboré avec un nombre considérable de musiciens de jazz classique et de big bands, le voici qui fait le grand saut — taking the plunge, en anglais — et publie enfin un premier disque sous son nom, enregistré avec un quartet de fins swingmen de la capitale. Un répertoire qu’il présente au Bal Blomet, armé de ses sourdines, dont forcément la plunger, cette ventouse de plombier détournée par les musiciens de jazz pour faire rugir leur cuivre.
