C’est le trip de l’été. Fermez les yeux et imaginez : il est 22h30, vous terminez votre verre de Cognac dans la cour de l’Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes. On bat le rappel pour le dernier concert de la journée, vous rejoignez les chaises spartiates de l’Abbaye (un conseil : montez à la tribune, l’acoustique y est meilleure). Les portes se referment et Jean-François Heisser et son ancien élève Jean Frédéric Neuburger se lancent dans l’un des chefs-d’œuvre de la musique moderne : Mantra de Stockhausen. Cette partition pour deux pianos, dans laquelle les pianistes utilisent également des wood-blocks, des crotales et des postes de radio, s’apparente à un voyage psychédélique de plus d’une heure. Composé en 1970, Mantra témoigne d’une époque où tout était encore possible – il ne reste donc plus qu’à fermer les yeux et à rêver…
