« J’appartiens à la génération de Rafael Spregelburd avec lequel j’ai déjà travaillé pour une trilogie sur l’Argentine montée par Matthias Langhoff. Spregelburd est un auteur prolifique, et son œuvre est jouée à Berlin, Londres, Barcelone ou New York. La France doit découvrir l’écriture nouvelle de ce dramaturge argentin, fasciné par la représentation des Sept Péchés capitaux de la table de Jérôme Bosch au Musée du Prado à Madrid. Inscrit à la fois dans notre morale d’aujourd’hui et familier de temps apocalyptiques moyenâgeux, le projet des sept pièces de Spregelburd renvoie aux sept péchés répertoriés, à la manière d’un miroir. La Connerie correspond à l’avarice : il est beaucoup question d’argent dans la pièce. Comment l’argent fait-il basculer le monde, la culture, les rapports humains, l’Histoire ? La pièce s’inspire du cinéma de Tarantino et de Lynch, du vaudeville, du pop art. C’est un road-movie scénique dont l’écriture est cinglante.
Quelle est la force du destin dans nos vies chaotiques ?
Spregelburd, attiré par les sciences physiques et les mathématiques, se pose la question des phénomènes naturels et de la théorie du hasard. Quelle est la force du destin dans nos vies chaotiques ? Cinq acteurs, Grégoire Oestermann, Karin Viard, Pierre Maillet, Marina Foïs et moi-même, endossons les rôles de vingt-cinq personnages. Cinq histoires avancent parallèlement et s’entrecroisent, elles interagissent entre elles au plus près du spectateur. Le point commun de cet univers de catastrophes est une chambre de motel à Las Vegas, un lieu improbable et provisoire dans la ville de l’apparence et du faux-semblant. D’une fiction à l’autre, le kaléidoscope de la vie tourne. Un chèque oublié dans une histoire devient le moteur de la scène qui suit. La pièce, écrite pour des acteurs qui changent de costume continuellement, exige une énergie monumentale. »
