Le premier acte commence dans une atmosphère sous-marine. C’est Venise engloutie : le héros va la fuir et découvrir un autre univers et un autre peuple, tellurique et impulsif, avant de plonger dans la jungle urbaine d’un monde futuriste. Chacune de ces étapes est l’occasion, pour les deux chorégraphes, d’imaginer une griffe esthétique singulière. Des corps « liquides » du premier tableau, on passe à un Sacre du printemps mâtiné d’arts martiaux, puis à un univers marqué par les danses urbaines, qui accueille cependant une danseuse sur pointes… Les danseurs sont finalement happés par un film d’animation. Quant à la bande-son, elle n’est pas le moindre attrait du spectacle : composée par Armand Amar, elle unira des mélodies traditionnelles, un récit chanté en italien, persan et mandarin, un air d’opéra et les répertoires de Christophe, The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy…
