« J’ai envie de parler des femmes, de celles qui ont si longtemps disparu derrière la question de l’âme, de l’apparence, de l’autorité masculine. Niées par la loi ou la religion… » Le ton est donné. Christine Bastin réunit quatre danseuses pour Mariam, une pièce sans tabous qui n’hésite pas à dénoncer les pratiques dont les femmes sont victimes, mais qui veut aussi célébrer leur force de vie et d’amour. La danse révèle cette force dans sa fondamentale insoumission. Cette création est aussi l’occasion de mettre en place un projet avec un groupe de spectateurs : les membres de ce groupe assistent tout au long de la saison à plusieurs pièces chorégraphiques, accompagnés par un membre de la compagnie Bastin. Une belle façon de défendre, là aussi, un projet destiné à infléchir le regard et les pratiques.
