Mariss Jansons aime toujours ouvrir ses concerts avec une symphonie de l’époque classique. On l’avait ainsi récemment entendu diriger l’une des Symphonies « Londoniennes » de Haydn dans un style élégant, bien que très éloigné de l’approche des ensembles sur instruments anciens. A la tête de son Orchestre de la Radio Bavaroise (l’une des deux formations, avec l’Orchestre du Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam, dont il est le chef principal), il donne ainsi au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées la Symphonie n°36 « Linz » de Mozart – un bijou de mélodies gracieuses et de rythmes allègres. Il conduit ensuite la Symphonie n°4 « Romantique » de Bruckner, l’une des œuvres les plus accessibles pour qui veut découvrir l’univers polyphonique intense mais complexe du compositeur autrichien. On pourra regretter que Mariss Jansons se cantonne toujours aux mêmes partitions rabâchées du répertoire. Mais il n’est pas interdit de se réjouir à l’idée de voir l’un des chefs les plus inspirés à la tête d’un outil tout simplement somptueux.
