CONCERTOS CONTEMPORAINS / PHILHARMONIE
À travers ces quatre concertos, composés sur plus de trente ans, c’est toute l’évolution stylistique du compositeur hongrois qui se trouve résumée. Le Concerto pour violoncelle affirmait dès 1966 une extrême maîtrise du son et de la forme avec ce paradoxe d’une musique tout à la fois statique et changeante. Suivront la fantaisie polyrythmique du Concerto pour piano (1988), les jeux de timbres et de hauteurs du Concerto pour violon (1992) puis du Concerto « hambourgeois » pour cor (2003). Travail d’horloger en même temps que d’illusionniste, la musique de Ligeti a toujours été bien servie par l’Ensemble Intercontemporain, notamment les trois premiers concertos, enregistrés par Pierre Boulez (DG, 1994) et Matthias Pintscher.
