Plusieurs fois récompensé dans de grandes compétitions internationales (Busoni à Bolzano, Chopin à Varsovie, William Kapell dans le Maryland), Baglini est surtout connu du public mélomane français pour avoir remporté à l’unanimité, en 1995, à l’âge de 21 ans, le Master de piano de Monte-Carlo. Alain Lompech évoquait alors à son sujet dans Le Monde « un pianiste proche d’Alfred Cortot par l’esprit et la sonorité ». Dans la déferlante « Chopin » à laquelle le mélomane ne tardera pas à être confronté en ce début d’année 2010, marquant le bicentenaire de la naissance du compositeur polonais, ce récital apparaît comme une bonne surprise : la réapparition d’un pianiste rarement à l’affiche en France et entretenant avec Chopin une relation profonde, déjà soulignée par un captivant enregistrement des Études (pour Phoenix Classics) à la fois sur piano moderne et pianofortes du XIXème siècle. Jouer ces œuvres en concert – les 24 Etudes des opus 10 et 25 auxquelles s’ajoutent trois études séparées composées en 1839 – relève d’une véritable performance pianistique et artistique.
