CREATION CONTEMPORAINE / PORTRAIT
Fondé en 1972 par le compositeur Paul Méfano, 2E2M défend et valorise la création contemporaine : ce sont près de six cents partitions qui ont été créées par Mefano et ses musiciens, qui ont accueilli des artistes tels que Brian Ferneyhough, Luis de Pablo, Pascal Dusapin, Sofia Goubaïdoulina et Toshio Hosokawa. C’est au tour du compositeur Mauro Lanza de rejoindre l’aventure de 2E2M en qualité de compositeur en résidence. Après avoir remporté les deux premiers prix des concours internationaux « Valentino Bucchi » et « Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa », c’est à l’IRCAM qu’il poursuit sa formation avant d’y devenir lui-même professeur au sein du cursus de composition et d’informatique musicale. Mauro Lanza cherche avant tout à fusionner de la manière la plus intime possible l’électronique et l’ensemble instrumental. Cette imbrication se combine avec l’invention dans ses compositions de tout un panel d’instruments-jouets, comme cette machine à pluie qu’il met au point en 2011 dans sa pièce Le nubi non scoppiano per il peso pour ensemble de neuf instruments, coloratura, électronique et gouttes d’eau contrôlées par ordinateur. Signalons aussi que Mauro Lanza a composé, en 2004 à l’Opéra de Paris, la musique du spectacle Le songe de Médée du chorégraphe Angelin Preljocaj.
