FONDATION VUITTON / MUSIQUE CONTEMPORAINE
Figure de la création contemporaine associée au post-minimalisme, Max Richter croise les instruments classiques avec l’électronique pour créer des atmosphères hypnotiques que l’on retrouve autant en concert et sur scène qu’au cinéma. Sur l’invitation de la Fondation Louis Vuitton, le musicien germano-britannique a reçu une commande pour orchestre amplifié, inspirée par les tableaux de Mark Rothko et selon le compositeur par « cette conception du lieu qu’il considère inventer lorsqu’il réalise une série de peintures. Une œuvre musicale est un paysage imaginaire ; c’est un espace que l’on peut habiter ». Dans ce programme dirigé par Matthew Lynch seront jouées deux autres pièces de Max Richter, The Waves : Tuesday et Exiles. Autour des dates des trois concerts, on retrouvera les pupitres de l’orchestre Le Balcon pour des déambulations musicales dans les galeries, où l’on entendra par ailleurs, pendant toute la durée de l’exposition consacrée au peintre américain, un parcours sonore réalisé par Max Richter.
