Les grands orchestres internationaux recèlent, on le sait, d’incroyables talents de musiciens (anonymes ou presque), parfois à l’égal des grandes stars qui font les couvertures des magazines. « Konzertmeister » (comme on ne dit pas à Paris) de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Paris (avec Frédéric Laroque), Maxime Tholance entre incontestablement dans cette catégorie. Les spectateurs familiers de Bastille le savent bien… Formé à partir de 1971 au Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris dans la classe de Pierre Doukan, il remporte à treize ans le Premier Prix du Concours International de Glasgow, premier jalon d’une série de récompenses internationales (Sion, Trapani, etc…) qui aurait pu le conduire, si tel avait été son souhait ou son destin, à une carrière de soliste. Mais l’attraction du monde de l’orchestre semble avoir été trop forte. En 1989, Lorin Maazel le sollicite pour occuper le poste de Violon solo à l’Orchestre National de France, poste qu’il abandonne deux ans plus tard pour retrouver l’Orchestre de l’Opéra. Pour ce premier rendez-vous de sa saison chambriste à Bastille, Maxime Tholance remet sur le métier une poignée de sonates pour violon et piano de Mozart et Beethoven interprétées avec la complicité de Jean-Marc Bonn au piano. Prochain rendez-vous, en novembre, dans Brahms.
