THEATRE ESSAÏON / TEXTE ET MISE EN SCENE ERIC BOUVRON / JEUNE PUBLIC / A PARTIR DE 8 ANS
C’est une voix forte, qui a combattu pour les droits civiques aux côtés de Malcom X ou Martin Luther King. Pourtant, la voix de Maya Angelou, née Marguerite Annie Johnson, s’est brisée quand elle était enfant, à la suite d’un traumatisme. Si elle l’a retrouvée, c’est grâce à une rencontre inattendue. Eric Bouvron a fait de sa vie une pièce, Maya, une voix, qui raconte son enfance dans le Missouri sous forme chorale, par l’intermédiaire de cinq comédiennes. La musique y tient une grande place, convoquant les standards de blues ou de jazz comme des musiques originales de Nina Forte. Eric Bouvron s’attache à « mettre en lumière l’histoire d’une femme qui a vécu des moments durs dans sa vie et qui a réussi à surmonter les injustices qu’elle a subies, pour les sublimer ». Une histoire qui donne de l’espoir.
