Dès le premier concert, en novembre 2015 au Fil de Saint-Etienne, tous étaient sur le même diapason. Comme s’ils étaient faits pour se rencontrer : « Sofiane, quand on t’a vu, tu ressemblais à un volcan. Dans lequel on s’est jeté. Le chant de Sofiane laisse des marques fumantes en dévalant tes pentes ! » Les musiciens de Mazalda ont trouvé dans le natif de Sidi Bel Abbès, entendu notamment auprès d’Acid Arab, la voix qui allait leur montrer la voie. Depuis, ils ont pris le temps et le soin de multiplier les expériences avant d’entrer en studio, pour faire naître un album (El Ndjoum) qui s’annonce comme un jalon dans la vie du raï. Ou plutôt juste comme la preuve belle et bien vibrante que cette musique est capable de tous les délires, de tous nous séduire, sans forcément s’affadir.
