Il restera dans l’histoire de la musique au XXème siècle comme le pianiste et le fondateur du Beaux-Arts Trio. Un ensemble créé en 1955, souvent applaudi en concert à Paris, qui a laissé dans le patrimoine discographique une œuvre considérable avec plus de soixante enregistrements de référence (pour Philips), couvrant tout le répertoire classique et romantique du trio avec piano. A 90 ans, Menahem Pressler qui, suite à l’arrêt des activités du trio en 2008, parcourt désormais la planète musicale en solitaire, se révèle une voix majeure de son instrument, bouleversante de musicalité et d’humanité, héritière de l’art noble et discret de la musique de chambre. Son programme de la série « Piano en Seine » se partage entre Haendel (Chaconne en sol majeur HWV 435), Mozart (Fantaisie en ut mineur KV 475 ; Sonate en ut mineur KV 457), Debussy ( Préludes : Livre I (extraits) ; La plus que lente ; Rêverie) et Chopin (3 Mazurkas ; Ballade N° 3 en la bémol majeur op..47). Immanquable, vraiment.
