Il faut les voir se prendre dans les bras, s’étreindre, même si c’est un combat : les deux protagonistes de Merci, Pardon passent par différents états, et l’on ne sait s’il faut les appeler amis, complices, rivaux, camarades, tandem, couple… Toujours est-il que leur relation fait tout le sel du spectacle, tant ils jouent de différents registres pour nous emmener sur les rives de l’humain, dans une intimité qui se dévoile petit à petit. Boris Couty et Maxime Sales se sont connus sur les bancs de l’école de cirque de Bordeaux, et retrouvés quelques années plus tard avec l’envie de créer ensemble. Il leur faudra un an et demi pour sortir leur premier spectacle, avant de décider de retourner se former à Toulouse : c’est là que Merci, Pardon a pris le temps de mûrir.
Une dimension chorégraphique
Merci, Pardon a d’abord éclot en version courte, mais il en fallait plus pour développer leur folie, leur univers où le temps s’étire pour nous emmener dans une direction avant de nous faire faire machine arrière. Ils sont définitivement les maîtres du jeu dans cette version, démontrant à la fois leurs qualités de jongleurs – spécialité massue – mais également leur virtuosité en tant que danseurs. Leur duo est sans conteste un pas de deux virtuose plein d’émotions, mais qui laisse place à un jeu clownesque ne cédant rien au burlesque.
