Pays émergents sur le plan économique, la Chine et l’Inde sont aussi, et avant tout, des civilisations millénaires tournées depuis toujours vers les arts. L’indien Ravi Prasad (chant, percussions), originaire du Kerala (Inde du Sud), est cette année l’invité d’honneur de Métis 2008. Son programme se déclinera en trois rendez-vous éclairant toute la palette de ses visions et talents musicaux avec, le 4 avril à 20h30 au Centre Culturel Jean Vilar de L’Île-Saint-Denis, une création basée sur une rencontre avec le quatuor à cordes classique Z Quartett (qui jouera aussi le Quatuor de Debussy) ; le 6 mai une rencontre avec la danseuse indienne Monica de la Fuente ; et enfin, le 17 juin, une autre confrontation détonante avec le guitariste flamenco Kiko Ruiz. A signaler aussi, dans les premières dates du festival, la chanteuse Susheela Raman (le 11 avril) et Li Yan, virtuose du Erhu, violon chinois traditionnel (le 15 mai).
