Portal toujours présent, constamment surprenant, jamais vraiment là où on l’attend. À Saint-Quentin, il rassemble un quintette de stars pour mieux se mettre en danger et trouver en lui force et idées nouvelles. Le risque reste son moteur. Auprès de lui : Louis Sclavis (clarinette, saxophone), Daniel Humair (batterie), Jean-Paul Celea (contrebasse) et Bojan Z (piano). Des fortes têtes. La veille, le clarinettiste aura offert au jazz une percée « Avenue Montaigne ». Qui mieux que lui pourrait le faire, lui qui a si souvent fréquenté cette salle pour y jouer Mozart ou Brahms. Face à Portal, un jeune tigre du piano possédant lui aussi une énergie, une virilité et une mobilité artistiques hors normes : Jacky Terrasson. Né en France d’un père normand et d’une mère américaine, formé à New York, Terrasson est un oiseau rare, l’un des enfants terribles de la scène jazz new yorkaise où il a su nouer des collaborations majeures avec des artistes tels que le batteur Leon Parker ou la chanteuse Cassandra Wilson. Comptons sur eux pour jeter dans ce mano a mano leur insatiable appétit de musique.
