Yi Ping Yang partage depuis plusieurs années les aventures artistiques de la compagnie des Lumas. La jeune Taiwanaise a choisi de migrer « pour conserver son intégrité intellectuelle » dit Eric Massé. A quel prix ? Pour réaliser quels rêves ? Autant de questions qu’aborde ce concert-spectacle conçu dans le vaste projet des Lumas autour de l’enfermement mental. L’histoire de la musicienne est l’occasion, dans ce cadre, d’aborder les questions convoquées par l’ethnopsychiatrie en les traitant sous l’angle des écarts psychologiques que provoque la coexistence des cultures, de leur douleur comme de leur fécondité. Dorothée Zumstein a écrit un texte sur cet « impossible et vital entre-deux » et l’héroïne a reçu la charge de la composition musicale, qu’elle interprète sur scène à la timbale pendant q’un comédien assume son personnage en traduisant ses paroles du chinois au français. Un spectacle qui joue de l’enchâssement comme des écarts entre le réel et la fiction, question centrale quant au problème des citadelles intérieures à l’assaut desquelles les Lumas se lancent dans une trilogie commencée avec cette première étape.
