C’est Benjamin Millepied qui ouvre le bal. Chorégraphe et soliste au New York City Ballet, il nous livre avec Amoveo l’histoire subtile d’une rencontre amoureuse. Or une histoire d’amour, rappelle-t-il, est avant tout une histoire de métamorphose : métamorphose des individus, mais aussi du groupe et de la société qui entoure le couple. Sur la musique de Philip Glass (Einstein on the beach), il invente ainsi une chorégraphie comme une série de reconfigurations, de transformations, qui l’amènent à injecter dans le vocabulaire classique une énergie nouvelle.
La danse et le miroir
C’est également l’oeuvre musicale d’un compositeur contemporain, Ligeti, qui a inspiré Nicolas Paul, danseur du ballet de l’Opéra. Il signe avec Répliques sa première chorégraphie pour la compagnie de l’Opéra : les huit danseurs nous invitent à une réflexion dansée sur la symbolique du miroir, du reflet et du double. La soirée se terminera avec Genus, du chorégraphe britannique Wayne McGregor. A partir des travaux de Charles Darwin, il s’interroge sur l’évolution du corps et sa représentation anatomique. Il nous entraîne à la fois dans les théories et dans la biographie du scientifique qui a consacré sa vie à décrire la lutte des espèces pour leur survie. Une question qui résonne avec le monde dans lequel nous vivons aujourd’hui : comme le rappelle Wayne McGregor, « le corps lutte pour son existence ».
