HOMMAGE A NICK DRAKE / NEW MORNING
« J’ai dès le début essayé d’avoir une démarche personnelle et surtout de m’approprier sa musique pour finalement m’en détacher le plus possible… Ce n’est pas un hommage à Nick Drake mais plutôt ma vision personnelle de sa musique »… Misja Fitzgerald Michel a grandi avec les chansons du pop-folk song-writer maudit (mort en 1974 à l’âge de 26 ans) et en dessine un portrait épuré et sensible, où la nostalgie n’a pas sa place : « J’ai très tôt été fasciné par la musique de Nick Drake. Son jeu de guitare est extraordinaire, ses mélodies, sa voix et ses compositions aussi. Il a été un musicien très à part à l’époque, pas du tout à sa place dans le milieu de la musique ni dans la société. Ses mélodies, harmonies et paroles sont très mélancoliques, voire déprimantes, mais sa musique reste toujours très sophistiquée, poétique et originale… » confie le guitariste français qui invite au New Morning le vocaliste et harmoniciste Hugh Coltman et le violoncelliste Olivier Koundouno.
