Né en 2002, suite à un stage de formation d’acteurs animé par Jean-Louis Martinelli à Bobo-Dioulasso et un atelier d’écriture mené par Jacques Jouet à Ouagadougou, Mitterrand et Sankara questionne les rapports entre le Nord et le Sud, le vrai et le faux, l’histoire d’hier et d’aujourd’hui… S’appuyant à la fois sur le documentaire et la fiction, ce spectacle bref (1H15), d’une simplicité et d’une efficacité réjouissantes, place le spectateur devant un champ ouvert de réflexions. Ainsi, cette représentation en forme de triptyque — discours du Président burkinabé devant l’O.N.U. en 1984 ; texte de Jacques Jouet ; discours du Président français lors du 16ème sommet des Chefs d’Etat de France et d’Afrique à La Baule, en 1990 — fait émerger de multiples mises en perspective : politiques, esthétiques, intellectuelles… En dehors de toute velléité didactique, la représentation citoyenne mise en scène par le directeur du Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers invite le public à se tourner en direction d’un passé proche pour mieux appréhender le paysage idéologique et politique actuel, le chemin parcouru par le monde depuis la disparition des deux hommes d’état.
Le Théâtre simple
Efficacité donc, et simplicité. Il est d’ailleurs précisément question de Théâtre simple dans la pièce de Jacques Jouet, qui s’amuse à réinventer une rencontre aigre-douce au cours de laquelle François Mitterrand (Pierre Hiessler) et Thomas Sankara (Moussa Sanou), en 1986, échangèrent des propos d’une franchise peu protocolaire. Enchâssé par les deux discours historiques, ce Théâtre simple est lui-même incarné par une protagoniste (Odile Sankara, sœur du Président) qui décrypte les principes de la forme de représentation qu’elle personnifie : « Une pièce de Théâtre simple est une pièce courte (…) à trois personnages. L’un se nomme le Théâtre simple. C’est un personnage théorique. C’est un personnage qui parle de la forme théâtrale et des règles de la ritualisation. » Faisant circuler la parole de façon aléatoire — par le biais d’un jeu d’adresse déterminant à tour de rôle le droit de s’exprimer — Mitterrand et Sankara établit une forme de légèreté ludique qui participe, elle aussi, à la réussite de l’ensemble du spectacle. Car la singularité de ce projet est de parvenir, par le biais d’un ensemble composite mêlant humour et réflexion, à faire naître le théâtre là on ne l’attendait pas. Un théâtre juste, modeste, authentique. Un théâtre centré sur la parole et la pensée.
