S’il a bien des points communs avec le marin de Moby Dick de Herman Melville, le personnage incarné par Mick Holsbeke est encore plus solitaire. Nul capitaine Achab dans Moby Mick, la merveille de la baleine. Nul équipage avec qui partager la traversée avant le naufrage et la rencontre avec un cachalot blanc. Dès les premières minutes du spectacle, l’ambitieux pêcheur se fait avaler par le cétacé qu’il convoitait, et commence à convoquer les ressources dont il dispose pour supporter l’isolement. Jonglage, mime, vélo, acrobaties, détournement d’objets du quotidien… Une heure durant, le clown déploie tout son savoir-faire, exercé auparavant auprès de nombreuses compagnies internationales, sans négliger la dimension métaphorique du roman dont il s’inspire. En tentant de poétiser la cavité glaireuse de son animal, le matelot burlesque de Moby Mick interroge en effet son clown intérieur ainsi que sa résistance au désespoir. Qui l’aime le suive dans cette voie périlleuse…
