La Manufacture / chanson hip-hop / mes Jean-Michel Van Den Eeyden
Il se revendique de pas mal d’appartenances et d’un destin urbain, sans un brin d’immodestie et avec pas mal de second degré. Né dans le bassin houiller, Mochélan invente sur cette identité de « poumon noir » une construction artistique entre naturalisme autobiographique – un classique en hip hop – et décalage des univers. Et un rappeur se revendiquant de Charleroi, c’est déjà une réussite. « Ce qui a été déclencheur pour moi, c’est ce moment, à la vingtaine, quand tu as autour de toi l’école, les médias, les proches qui te rabâchent que tu as l’avenir devant toi, mais que l’environnement dans lequel tu souhaites te construire est mort socialement, culturellement, économiquement. » Samples jazzy ou groove, acoustiques ou blues, flow à l’accent wallon, un peu de sentimentalisme écorché et de l’humour : Mochélan rappe la chanson française avec simplicité.
