Tout commence avec la voix d’un sorcier (Jean-Baptiste Tiémélé ou Basile Siékoua), suivie par celle de Jacob (Fernand Prince). Accompagné par un joueur de Djembé (Victor Legrand), le jeune homme témoigne de son histoire, liée à celle de son village, décimé par un esclavagiste anglais… « Après maintes lectures, la voix de cet esclave qui évoque ses semblables n’a cessé de résonner en moi, confie Fernand Prince. J’ai donc décidé de créer Moi Jacob, l’esclave d’Agbodrafo Wood Home pour rendre compte, auprès de la jeune génération en particulier, de l’horreur de l’esclavage, pour évoquer avec empathie l’état de souffrance (…) dans lequel se trouve ceux qui encore aujourd’hui en sont victimes. » Souhaitant de cette façon « remuer le paysage théâtral », le metteur en scène et comédien invite le public à la résistance, « au combat contre l’exploitation de l’homme par ses semblables ».
