Les Hauts Plateaux / d’après James Joyce / mes Pascal Papini
Tout se déroule en moins de 24 heures, dans la ville de Dublin, le 16 juin 1904. Une journée ordinaire pour Léopold Bloom – protagoniste central d’Ulysse – qui donne corps à un roman par bien des aspects extraordinaire, certainement l’un des plus grands du XXème siècle. Dans son dix-huitième et dernier chapitre, James Joyce s’arrête sur Molly Bloom, l’épouse de Léopold. C’est la nuit. Ne parvenant pas à trouver le sommeil, Molly nous entraîne dans un flux monumental de phrases, de digressions, de considérations et de confessions sur l’existence, sur sa propre vie… Sur la scène des Hauts Plateaux, c’est Chloé Chevalier qui s’empare de cette parole hors norme. Habitée par ce texte depuis ses études au conservatoire d’Avignon, la comédienne déclare ne pas chercher à incarner le personnage de Molly, mais « tenter l’exercice complexe d’errance de la pensée ». Cela, dans une volonté « de se rendre au service de cette pensée, tout en gardant la vivacité nécessaire que requiert le présent du théâtre ».
