Humaniste et intimiste, l’histoire imaginée par Pierre Gagnon explore les difficultés de la vieillesse et de la dépendance, lorsque soudain un accident rend le quotidien impossible. Retraité de la fonction publique, le narrateur décide d’adopter Léo, 99 ans, rencontré dans une maison de retraite. Un véritable défi au vide du temps et à l’inutilité… « Hier, c’est lui qui a coupé les pommes de terre. Bon, d’accord, on a soupé tard, et alors ? » Sobre, tendre et poignant, le portrait de cette fin de vie reflète la complicité du duo qui s’apprivoise et expérimente un quotidien bientôt troublé par un profond désordre. Rachid Akbal et Pierre Carrive mettent en œuvre un jeu sans pathos ni angélisme, tout en fragile humanité, où les corps racontent plus que les mots, jusqu’à une scène finale onirique célébrant la grandeur de la vie.
