Comment est né ce projet scénique autour d’Albertine Sarrazin ?

On ne se souvient d’Albertine Sarrazin que comme l’insoumise, la marginale, l’évadée, comme l’auteur aussi de L’Astragale. Sur les plateaux de télévision, elle apparaissait drôle et amusante, une façade qui empêchait de la percevoir vraiment. Issue de l’Assistance Publique, elle a connu une enfance d’humiliations avec des parents adoptifs qui ne l’ont pas soutenue. J’ai lu ses lettres, celles d’une femme en train de se construire et de comprendre le monde pour pouvoir enfin « faire quelque chose de sa vie ».La vie brève d’Albertine ne peut pas être plus « romanesque » !
M. H. : Brillante à l’école dans l’établissement religieux qu’elle fréquente, elle est indisciplinée. À quinze ans, elle fait une fugue ; elle intègre plus tard une maison de correction avec deux gendarmes à ses côtés. À partir de là, tout va de mal en pis : elle s’enfuit par les cuisines du lycée au moment du bac, « monte » à Paris en survivant de vols et de prostitution. À dix-sept ans, elle commet un hold-up et est condamnée.
« Albertine s’adresse à un lecteur imaginaire librement et sans complaisance. »
Elle saute le mur de sa prison, se casse un petit os du pied, l’astragale, et se traîne sur la route. Julien Sarrazin qui passe en voiture la récupère.
C’est d’abord sa vie d’écrivain que vous choisissez de raconter.
M. H. : Elle commence à écrire chez les Bons Pasteurs, une maison de redressement tenue par des religieuses. À partir de là, je suis les traces d’Albertine jusqu’à sa mort sur un lit d’hôpital, à la suite d’une erreur médicale, après dix-huit mois de célébrité. Imaginez ce trajet d’une enfant de l’Assistance publique qui « débarque » en 1965 dans le milieu littéraire parisien. Quand elle écrit, elle s’adresse à un lecteur imaginaire librement et sans complaisance. C’est Julien Sarrazin qui la publie, lui donne son nom et son identité d’écrivain.
Quelles sont ses caractéristiques d’artiste ?
M. H. : J’ai lu tous ses écrits, ses lettres mais aussi ses carnets de prison : elle ne regrette rien. Ses manuscrits ne comportent aucune rature. « On ne rature pas sa vie », dit-elle. Arrogante, radicale et spirituelle, elle se défend comme un animal face à ses juges. Elle a été sauvée par l’amour de Julien et par l’écriture, une écriture sensible, poétique et attentive à l’absolu. Dans l’impatience de vivre – entre envies spontanées et idéal romanesque.
