Il y a plus de dix ans, DeLaVallet Bidiefono fondait la Compagnie Baninga dans une Brazzaville marquée par la dictature et la violence. Lassé de travailler dans une arrière-cour, à même la terre, et désireux de montrer ses spectacles à la population locale, il construit peu à peu de ses mains un centre chorégraphique, financé grâce à ses tournées européennes. En décembre 2015, l’Espace Baning’Art est enfin inauguré : c’est l’aboutissement d’un rêve. Monstres / On ne danse pas pour rien évoque cette construction, et au-delà la construction d’un parcours, de femmes, d’hommes, d’un espoir. « Aux monstres que nous impose la dictature je veux opposer les « monstres » que sont l’Espace Baning’Art, mais aussi ces hommes et ces femmes qui m’entourent […]. Autant de « monstres » qui peuvent représenter une véritable force d’opposition poétique et artistique face au régime en place. » écrit-il. Sur un plateau habillé d’échafaudages, dix danseurs, que quatre musiciens accompagnent, livrent un combat vital, sautent, boxent, piétinent le sol. Ils nous offrent un spectacle résistant, ambitieux, sans concession.
