Ils sont venus, ils sont tous là : Agamemnon, Iphigénie et Clytemnestre, Hécube, Cassandre et Tirésias, Œdipe et sa famille, convoqués pour Mount Olympus, la pièce fleuve de Jan Fabre qui vous promet de passer vingt-quatre heures To glorify the cult of tragedy, comme le suggère le sous-titre. Co-écrit avec l’auteur flamand Jeroen Olyslaegers, inspiré d’ Eschyle, Sophocle et Euripide, c’est surtout du Jan Fabre pur jus, avec sa maîtrise incomparable du geste et de la parole, sa mise en scène d’un baroque qui jouxte le gothique flamboyant, ses musiques envoûtantes, sa chorégraphie pulsionnelle et sa recherche de la beauté. Avec une distribution de 28 performeurs venus du monde entier, il nous invite à une expérience peu commune, qui tient de l’extase, de la catharsis, bien au-delà de la seule représentation. Pour paraphraser l’artiste, ce n’est pas « du théâtre comme il était à espérer et à prévoir » (titre d’une pièce de 1982), mais une transgression totale, un univers qui bouleverse nos sens, nos certitudes, et fait miroiter l’essence de l’être.
