CROSSOVER / THEATRE DU CHATELET
Le producteur Hugues de Courson s’est fait une spécialité de mêler chefs-d’œuvre du classique et musique du monde. Dans l’album « O’Stravaganza », il avait marié, parfois avec succès, les tubes de Vivaldi à la musique celtique. On lui doit également le projet « Bach l’africain ». Mais son plus grand succès reste le disque « Mozart l’égyptien », dont les ventes ont atteint près de 500 000 exemplaires. Le Théâtre du Châtelet reprend ce concept avec l’Orchestre de chambre de Paris (dirigé par Patrick Souillot) et une pléiade de musiciens égyptiens, jouant sur instruments traditionnels (oud, rek, dof, sagat…). Certains mélomanes crieront au crossover périmé. Mais n’oublions pas que le compositeur de L’Enlèvement au sérail a toujours été fasciné par l’Orient, serait-ce un Orient de pacotille, et que l’Egypte pharaonique se glisse en arrière-fond de La Flûte enchantée. Il y a quelques années, l’ensemble Concerto Köln s’était pour sa part mêlé à des musiciens turcs sur l’album « Dream of the Orient ».
