Sur la cartographie des grands festivals de musique européens, Musica est devenu un passage obligé, lieu de croisements des esthétiques et compositeurs de référence de la musique de notre temps (Eotvos, hommage à Xenakis, Mantovani, Zappa, Colloque autour de l’œuvre de Bernd Alois Zimmermann, etc…), mais aussi de la musique en train de s’inventer, ici et maintenant. Quatre-vingt-six œuvres sont ainsi annoncées au programme dont vingt-neuf créations mondiales ou premières françaises… Parmi celles-ci, remarquons d’emblée, lors du concert d’ouverture le 24 septembre avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France (dir. Pascla Rophé) les partitions nouvelles du jeune autrichien surdoué Johannes Maria Staud présentant une nouvelle version de On Comparative Meteorology ou de l’italien Oscar Bianchi pour la première de son Ajna Concerto. Impossible aussi de ne pas signaler les premières françaises du nouvel opéra Love and other Demons de Peter Eotvos (également à la baguette), mis en scène par Silviu Purcarete (crée à Glyndebourne en 2008) le 25 septembre à l’Opéra National du Rhin, et la pièce de théâtre musical Wüstenbuch de Beat Furrer mise en scène par Christoph Marthaler le 1er octobre à la Filature de Mulhouse.
