Avec le cycle de sept contes musicaux commandés à différents compositeurs européens, l’ensemble Musicatreize a voulu renouer avec « la simplicité du livre cher à nos souvenirs d’enfant et dont on a tourné les pages toujours émerveillés ». Chaque conte devient à la fois livre-disque illustré et court spectacle mis en scène. Après le Portugais António Chagas Rosa, le Hongrois László Sáry, le Vietnamien Tôn-Thât Tiêt et le Français Bruno Mantovani, c’est un autre musicien français, Jean-Christophe Marti (né en 1964) qui s’est essayé à cet art de la forme légère, chaque œuvre étant un travail commun entre le compositeur, le metteur en scène, l’auteur et l’illustrateur. Jean-Christophe Marti a lui-même écrit cette histoire d’après le récit légendaire des voyages d’Alexandre le Grand, tirée d’un texte talmudique. Créé à Marseille en mai 2007, Le Grand Dépaysement d’Alexandre le Grand, conte musical pour douze voix, un percussionniste et deux comédiens jouant en langue des signes, prendra toute sa dimension avec sa création scénique à l’issue d’une résidence à l’Abbaye de Fontevraud.
