« Je me suis demandée ce que serait une danse que l’on mastique. »
On vous décrit souvent comme une chorégraphe de la lenteur, voire de l’épure ou du minimalisme. Peut-on parler de cette façon de vos deux nouvelles pièces ?
Myriam Gourfink : La lenteur oui, dans le sens où je travaille sur un autre temps, un temps étiré. En revanche on ne peut pas parler de minimalisme ou d’épure. Pour Bestiole par exemple, je travaille sur un dialogue entre les danseuses et moi-même qui suis à la table et qui envoie une information chorégraphique sous forme de partitions en temps réel sur des écrans.
Qu’entendez-vous par « partition chorégraphique » ? Quelle interface utilisez-vous ?
M. G. : C’est une interface graphique que j’ai construite avec un informaticien à partir du logiciel Max / MSP. J’ai d’abord écrit de petites entités chorégraphiques, des choses très fines comme le mouvement d’un ischion qui s’antéverse pendant que l’autre se rétroverse, ou des petits mouvements du coccyx, pour aller chercher vraiment les os et leur donner le mouvement de la marche mais dans des contextes différents. Quand j’écrivais, en utilisant la notation Laban, j’avais l’impression de mettre en mouvement des petites bestioles, des façons de se mouvoir toujours guidées par le souffle, mais où le corps est décortiqué.
Les écrans partagent l’espace avec des praticables…
M. G. : Quand l’idée de ces petites bestioles est apparue à l’écriture des partitions, j’ai eu envie de fabriquer un espace assez clos, comme une île aux tortues, ou comme une installation-laboratoire offrant aux danseuses des plans inclinés d’appuis, avec des hauteurs et des inclinaisons différentes, sous ce ciel d’écrans permettant de lire leurs partitions. Finalement ce sont comme des pupitres de musiciens.
L’étirement du temps va-t-il induire un épuisement des corps comme dans certaines de vos pièces ?
M. G. : Pas vraiment, parce que la pièce dure 46 minutes, en lien avec le temps de concentration des danseuses. La lecture de la partition est vraiment très complexe : elles doivent accumuler les informations au fur et à mesure et les mémoriser, tout en construisant un cycle en injectant de nouvelles informations exactement où elles le veulent. L’effort de mémoire et de concentration est énorme. Au-delà de ce temps, il y aurait surtout un épuisement mental.
Bestiole a-t-il un lien avec l’autre création, Une Lente Mastication ?
M. G. : Dans l’autre pièce, il n’y a pas du tout de dispositif technologique. J’ai pensé à ce principe de mastication en Inde où le public reçoit un spectacle par le sens du goût. On parle beaucoup de « rasa » pour exprimer cette chose, je me suis nourrie de cette image et je me suis demandée ce que serait une danse que l’on mastique. Quel pourrait être ce “jus“ que l’on offre au public ? J’ai donc créé une partition qui permet aux danseurs de répéter et répéter une phrase selon des indications particulières, comme vivre un équilibre, vivre un appui fort sur les mains, vivre une inversion. A force de la travailler, de la mastiquer, de la répéter de façon mécanique, on peut essayer de l’offrir comme un jus au public. Une Lente Mastication se situe pour moi plus dans le prolongement de Corbeau ou Choisir le moment de la morsure, alors que Bestiole est en lien avec Les Temps tiraillés. Aujourd’hui, je développe vraiment ces deux chemins différents, mais qui dialoguent l’un et l’autre : l’un avec les technologies et divers protocoles d’exploration, et l’autre plus écrit et formel.
