Nombreux sont les mélomanes à regretter la faible présence de la musique française dans les saisons parisiennes. Le répertoire symphonique français semble même mieux défendu par les phalanges britanniques que par les formations hexagonales… L’Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France se rattrape à l’occasion de deux programmes dirigés par Myung-Whun Chung. Le premier, en hommage à Jean-Louis Barrault, a lieu dans un cadre exceptionnel (et une acoustique peut-être un peu réverbérante…) : la nef du Musée d’Orsay. Le chef coréen a choisi d’y donner la Symphonie fantastique de Berlioz, un compositeur qu’il connaît très bien, notamment pour avoir enregistré plusieurs de ses œuvres du temps où il était à la tête de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris. Trois jours plus tard, direction la Salle Pleyel, où le Philar’ confronte Ravel (Le Tombeau de Couperin et les deux suites de Daphnis et Chloé) à deux compositeurs français contemporains, Pascal Dusapin (Reverso) et Henri Dutilleux (Métaboles). L’occasion de juger d’une éventuelle filiation entre ces trois auteurs passionnés par le timbre instrumental.
