« Nachlass est une tentative de témoigner, non pas de la mort, mais du chemin que chaque être devra tôt ou tard emprunter », explique Stefan Kaegi, cofondateur du Collectif Rimini Protokoll. Accompagné du cinéaste Bruno Deville, le metteur en scène a côtoyé des personnes en fin de vie en leur demandant d’imaginer « à quoi pourrait ressembler un espace qui évoquera leur souvenir quand elles ne seront peut-être plus là ». Pièce de théâtre sans êtres humains, Nachlass se déroule au sein d’espaces où la mort est l’acteur principal. Testaments, documents, témoignages audio, photos, commentaires facebook et messages vidéo peuplent ces espaces de singuliers autoportraits. Par groupes de huit, toutes les quinze minutes, des spectateurs explorent ces cénotaphes théâtraux. Ils font ainsi la connaissance de femmes et d’hommes qui enjambent les frontières de l’existence pour leur parler, leur raconter qui elles/ils étaient.
