Sa voix, grave, âpre, s’échappe du profond d’elle-même et fend le silence en un souffle puissant, caresse et bouscule les mots, parfois s’envole en embardées viriles secouées de raucités soudaines. Nada Strancar est une comédienne de fort tempérament. Tragédienne tout en vigueur et variations, qui, enfant, se rêvait cantatrice, elle a côtoyé les plus grands auteurs du répertoire, et souvent Brecht. Après avoir interprété les airs de Madame Peachum dans L’Opéra de quat’sous en 2003, la voilà qui se lance dans un tour de chant et s’empare des poèmes et des chansons de Brecht avec la complicité du metteur en scène Christian Schiaretti et du chef d’orchestre Jean-Claude Magloire. « Nous avons organisé ce récital comme un voyage, une errance de mélodieuses chansons d’amour à des chansons alcoolisées, puis de petites marches à des fables animalières, puis de blues aux « songs » de Mère Courage : un spectacle qui ne m’a pas quittée. » raconte Nada Strancar, qui a gardé les traces de ce rôle inscrit profondément. Choisissant les musiques de Paul Dessau, compositeur que Brecht avait rencontré dans son exil américain, elle fait entendre le « ricanement métaphysique et social » du dramaturge allemand.
