Sous la direction musicale de Jean-Claude Malgoire, la grande comédienne Nada Strancar, ancienne élève d’Antoine Vitez et véritable complice artistique des plus grands metteurs en scène (Patrice Chéreau, Giorgio Strehler, Luc Bondy, Alain Françon, Joël Jouanneau et bien sûr Christian Schiaretti au TNP ces dernières années) cède à la fascination du chant qui l’habite depuis ses débuts. Cette géante de la scène oublie pour mieux l’utiliser tout ce qu’elle a appris sur les planches pour redonner souffle et musique aux chansons composées sur des textes de Brecht par Paul Dessau, grand compositeur allemand au destin chahuté, né en 1894 à Hambourg dans une famille juive de musiciens, formé au Conservatoire de Berlin, devenu jeune compositeur en vue dans les années 20-30 (œuvres symphoniques de concert mais aussi nombreuses musiques de films), avant de s’enfuir à Paris en 1933 puis six ans plus tard aux Etats-Unis, à New York puis Hollywood où il suit Brecht. Paul Dessau rentrera en Europe en 1948, en Allemagne de l’Est où il s’éteindra en 1979, redevenu compositeur respecté… La chanteuse Nada Strancar sera accompagnée dans cette nouvelle aventure par François Martin (piano/direction), Michel Lairot (accordéon) et Guillaume Blaise (percussions).
