Sa discrétion n’a d’égale que la densité de son expression musicale : le pianiste Nelson Goerner, aujourd’hui âgé de 50 ans, est un géant du clavier. Chacun de ses récitals, chacune de ses prestations avec orchestre sont des promesses de moments musicaux d’exception où seules comptent la quête du sens, la recherche du chant et de l’émotion, en toute transparence et humilité. « Il est, dans le répertoire pianistique, des œuvres dont les toutes premières notes ouvrent un espace de rêve intime, teinté d’une ineffable nostalgie ; tel est le Blumenstück de Schumann. Je serais même tenté de dire que cette aventure touche aussi à l’essence même d’un récital : un artiste ne se confie-t-il pas à son public, l’invitant à partager l’univers des œuvres qui l’habitent, à ce moment-là, plus que tout autre ? » remarque-t-il. Dans un programme résolument romantique, Nelson Goerner a choisi, après le tendre opus 19 de Schumann, d’aborder Brahms et son ultime Sonate n°3, opus 5 et Liszt en cascade : Funérailles, extrait des Harmonies poétiques et religieuses ; Jeux d’eau à la Villa d’Este, extrait des Années de pèlerinage ; et la Rhapsodie espagnole. L’un des récitals marquants de ce début de saison pianistique à Paris.
